About Employee Benefits
Our Employee Benefits Department operates with transparency and integrity at the core of its values. We are approachable and adaptable, and we greatly value the feedback provided by our members and member districts to stay in tune with their ever-evolving needs. Our top priority is to provide exceptional customer service and advocate on our members’ behalf through solution-oriented support while demonstrating empathy and respect. We take our responsibility to educate our members and member districts very seriously to help them make informed decisions that positively impact their health, finances, and overall well-being.
Since 2008, RESIG has worked collaboratively with public school districts to provide access to high-quality, sustainable employee benefit programs. What began as a shared approach to purchasing and administering benefits has grown into a comprehensive program serving employees, retirees, and their families in Sonoma and Mendocino Counties.
Today, RESIG’s Employee Benefits Department administers medical, dental, vision, and other benefit programs on behalf of participating member districts. Our small, dedicated team works closely with district benefit administrators, employees, retirees, carriers, health plans, consultants, and other partners to support our membership throughout every stage of the benefits experience.
Serving Our Members
Service is at the heart of our program. As a public Joint Powers Authority (JPA), RESIG exists to serve its member districts and the people behind them. We recognize that employee benefits are more than plans, premiums, and enrollment forms. They affect our members’ access to healthcare, their families, their financial security, and their well-being.
That responsibility shapes how we approach our work. Whether we are helping a member understand a benefit, assisting a retiree through a coverage transition, working with a district to solve an eligibility issue, or advocating with one of our program partners, our goal is to make a complex benefits system easier to navigate.
We believe exceptional service also means listening. Feedback from our members and member districts helps guide the programs, resources, education, and initiatives we develop.
Building Better Benefits
RESIG continually evaluates opportunities to strengthen our benefit programs and improve the member experience. Our work extends beyond annual renewals and plan administration and includes initiatives focused on benefit education, preventive care, member engagement, communications, technology, and long-term program sustainability.
Collaboration is an important part of that work. Through initiatives such as our Benefits Task Force, RESIG brings together representatives from our member districts to identify challenges, share perspectives, and help shape resources and solutions that reflect the needs of the people we serve.
We also work closely with our benefit partners to explore new programs and improve existing ones, with a focus on access, affordability, quality, and helping members better understand and use their benefits.
Advocacy Beyond RESIG
The challenges affecting employee benefits do not stop at the boundaries of our member districts. Healthcare costs, prescription drug pricing, provider consolidation, access to care, benefit mandates, and state and federal policy decisions can all have a direct impact on public employers and the people they cover.
RESIG actively participates in conversations about these issues and represents the perspective of public-sector health benefit programs through industry and legislative organizations, including the California Association of Joint Powers Authorities (CAJPA).
Through this involvement, RESIG monitors proposed legislation and regulatory developments, shares information with our membership, and participates in advocacy on issues affecting public agency health benefit programs. Our goal is to help ensure that the needs of public employers and their members are represented as healthcare policy continues to evolve.
Our Commitment
At its core, the RESIG Employee Benefits Program is built on relationships. We are proud of the trust our member districts place in us, and we do not take that responsibility lightly.
Behind every enrollment, eligibility question, claim concern, plan decision, or policy discussion is a person who depends on these benefits. Serving that person — and the districts that serve them — is why we are here.
