Effective June 1, 2020 Sonoma County employers, including schools, are required to have their employees conduct a health self-assessment and temperature check before reporting to the workplace.

Sonoma County has partnered with IBM and developed a free electronic application that employers can use called SoCo COVID-19 Check.  The application is available on the Apple App Store for iPhones at: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/soco-covid-19-check/id1511037042 and the Google Play Store for Android phones at: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sococheck

This electronic assessment tool is intended to assist in keeping staff from potentially spreading SARS-CoV-2 the virus that causes COVID-19.  Data collected by the application is anonymous and will be stored on IBM’s cloud where public health officials can access the information.  The data does not track location and is deleted after 45 days.  The application is not used for contact tracing.  Employees working from home are not required to use this application.

Additional information regarding the use of the above noted free electronic application (SoCo COVID-19 Check) and reporting guidelines is noted in the Amendment No. 3 to Order of the Health Officer of the County of Sonoma No. C19-09 which was amended on May 22, 2020:  An alternative system may be utilized as long as it meets the same purpose of employee and employer assessments and as long as it allows the electronic reporting of equivalent data to be reported to the County in aggregate form.

RESIG will continue to monitor as further information is released regarding the above noted assessment tool and reporting guidelines.  Should further information be released, we will continue to keep you updated as information becomes available.

Additionally, be aware that, because the SARS-CoV-2 virus is so widespread in communities, Cal/OSHA is requiring employers to adopt mandatory changes to their Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) addressing COVID-19.  The following COVID-19 infection prevention and training measures should be included in an IIPP when applicable and can be found here: https://www.dir.ca.gov/dosh/coronavirus/General-Industry.html .

As always, please contact RESIG with any issues or concerns regarding this.

Stay Safe and Be Well.
